Remember when the Queens cowboys
i.e the RCMP- stopped us 'because they got a call"- and then interogated us on what that RED and Black flag meant-
"Its for our bike club!" we said

I think we should always go past parliment- and hopefully next time with more people- ride around the eternal flame- with more red and black flags and throw an efigy of harper upon it

-but thats just me

how about stopping at parliment and doing the bike lift?

and i agree, flags are good. i think i will try to make one to bring to the next mass (though it will probably not be red-black, because its non-meaning speaks less to me than other coloured flags, if you know what i mean!)

yay for everyone who did come out and the discussions at the bar afterwards were also really fun.

yay for biking in ottawa in the winter!!

Maybe we should have some discussion about how to deal with cops questioning us. I personally amd extremely wary of any talking to them, but am not certain one way or the other. I am wondering what others think about this?

On that note, you could gather some wisdom from the Human Powered Vehicle Operators of Ottawa, or perhaps Citizens for Safe Cycling, of which I am a member and President, respectively.

HPVOoO had a Parking Meter Party in the Byward Market last year, and because we were prepared, we knew the laws, and we knew the arguments, dealing with cops (well, by-law officers), wasn't a hassle, it was part of the fun!

Bylaw Officer: I understand where you're coming from, but couldn't you go two to a spot or something?

Us: Sorry, but the bylaw clearly states "one vehicle to a parking spot."

I think effigy burning isn't so cool, especially in the eternal flame.

I didn't get a chance to ohear what the cop said to you guys, as I was hanging back to try to get some photos. I think the police stopping us wasn't such a bad thing, I mean, they didn't hold us up long. I'm sure I would have gotten a little nervous if I was a cop and I saw a big crowd of rowdy cyclists riding towards the parliament buildings.

I had a fun time, I agree Naomi, the pub afterwards is awesome!
