Ye Cycling Pirates

This friday may 26 be the pirate critical mass

So I shall tell ye now the long and the short of it: This
Friday it will be six and twenty days of May (May 26th) as we here
know it to be the last friday of the month cycle. So then it shall be
a pirate Critical Mass this month only. We Ride for one and all to
join in to or walk the plank (just don't drive a car there!)

We shall Meet on the "X" spot at Confederation Park. We shall
parley there around 530pm I say but I reckon we won't be leaving until
6pm on that eve. We hope to ride to Cape of Good Pedalling, where the
Car-Free Island that we will create by riding together gives us the
bounty of safe and comfortable cycling.

Come as ye will, festooned in pirate gear for all to see,
bring flute or drum or any noisey thing you can carry to inspire the
imagination. Not just bicycles but all those who sail under their own
wind are welcome, skateboards, wheelchairs, rollerskates etc. We set
out at 6 PM sharp rain or shine so ye best come prepaared!

- Remember, We Don't Block Traffick For, We ARRRR Traffick!!

Ok, so in exchange for a 263k$ donation to prostate cancer research, some 1400 motorcycles get to spew some nasty exhaust fumes for us to breathe in and raise our risk of getting lung cancer.

Pat yourself on the back. You deserve it.

People walk/drive/eat/talk everyday without raising money for anything. It is a fallacy to presume that a bike ride must raise money for something. This has not been part of Ottawa Critical Mass. However, it could be argued that by promoting good health, CM helps save the health care system money, as good health and less pollution equates to less illness and pressure on the system. Potentially millions one might argue.

On a personal note, bringing up dead parents as some emotive argument to quell anothers beliefs is a crying shame and disrespectful to anyone having faced it.

Critical mass is a positive event for those involved; people who find community in a shared interest (similar to any sport/hobby). Those posting on a hockey fan site would not appreciate non-hockey fans going on to bash hockey, so why waste your energy on bashing CM? Similarly, how about running around a bar yelling at all intoxicated fools potentiall harming innocent people?

Some people like apples, some oranges. This site is for folks who like apples. Orange eaters might want to start their own anti-critical mass site or something. (p.s. this is just a reference, I personally like both apples and oranges, in the fruit sense that is)

Life is a beautiful and sometimes short experience, why not live it, as happily as possible, rather than spend so much time in anger, it seems rather destructive.

So why then, do you and your 'friends' insist on raising anger from the people around you? You do this every time you put together one of your riots. Live by your own words asshat.

You're all a bunch of arrogant assholes. How often do you see someone on a BICYCLE wave to and acknowledge another cyclist? Uh..how about NEVER. Now tell me how many times you see people on motorcycles and people who share the same vehicles wave to each other.

Thats what i thought.

My point? Why cant you get along with the people around just like everyone else, accept the way we ALL live as THE WAY OF LIFE and go do something productive.

I'll keep that in mind if you ever slow down in your car in front of my semi.
